Discover Philly Steak Co.

Walking into Philly Steak Co. inside the Comcast Center feels like stepping into a compact snapshot of Philadelphia food culture. Tucked at Comcast Center, 1701 John F Kennedy Blvd, Concourse Suite 15, Philadelphia, PA 19103, United States, this spot has become a reliable lunch stop for office workers, tourists, and locals who take their cheesesteaks seriously. I’ve eaten here more times than I can count between meetings, and it’s one of those places where consistency quietly earns loyalty.

The menu keeps things straightforward, which honestly works in its favor. You’ll find classic Philly cheesesteaks, chicken cheesesteaks, and hoagies alongside fries and quick sides. What stands out is the cooking process. Orders are made fresh on a flat-top grill where thin-sliced ribeye hits the heat, gets seasoned, and is chopped and folded until tender. According to the USDA, properly cooked beef should reach an internal temperature of 145°F for safety, and while you don’t see a thermometer, the texture and juiciness here suggest experienced hands that know timing by feel rather than guesswork. That kind of practical expertise only comes from repetition.

On one visit, I watched a line stretch halfway down the concourse, mostly Comcast employees on tight lunch breaks. Despite the rush, orders moved fast. That efficiency matters. A 2023 National Restaurant Association report noted that speed and order accuracy rank among the top three factors in positive fast-casual dining reviews, and this place clearly understands that balance. You’re not waiting long, and your sandwich tastes like it was made for you, not pulled from a warming tray.

Flavor-wise, the cheesesteaks hit the expected notes. Soft rolls with just enough chew, melted cheese woven into the meat, and optional toppings like onions or peppers if you’re into that. I usually go traditional, because when the core is done right, extras aren’t necessary. The chicken cheesesteak deserves a mention too. It’s grilled fresh, not rubbery, and seasoned well enough to stand on its own. That versatility on the menu makes it easy for groups with different tastes to agree on a single stop.

Reviews around the concourse echo the same themes I’ve experienced: reliable food, friendly service, and a location that’s hard to beat. Being inside the Comcast Center means it’s not a destination diner in the old-school sense, but rather a modern urban lunch counter that knows its audience. That context matters. You’re eating here because you want quality fast, not because you’re settling.

One interesting thing is how Philly Steak Co. manages consistency across locations. While this review focuses on the JFK Boulevard spot, similar feedback shows up across their other locations. That kind of operational consistency is often studied in restaurant management circles, with Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration frequently highlighting standardized prep methods as key to brand trust. You can taste that standardization here, and it works.

There are limits, of course. Seating is limited due to the concourse setup, so it’s more of a grab-and-go experience. If you’re looking for a long, relaxed diner-style meal, this isn’t it. But if your goal is a dependable cheesesteak that respects tradition while fitting into a modern workday, it delivers.

After years of grabbing lunch here, what keeps me coming back isn’t hype or novelty. It’s the simple confidence of a place that knows exactly what it is. The menu doesn’t overreach, the process stays tight, and the reviews reflect real, repeat customers rather than one-time visitors chasing a trend. In a city where opinions on cheesesteaks can get heated, that quiet reliability says a lot.

  • My husband and I were in the city for one day and wanted to eat some good Philly Cheesesteaks! They did not disappoint it was so delicious we shared the ribeye cheesesteak it was more than enough for the both of us and the cheese fries everything was delish! And kept us full pretty much all day! I highly recommend them! They are downstairs in the Comcast center building for those that aren’t from the area because we were a little lost we had to ask.

  • I had a long layover and decided to explore the city, google recommended the place to me and it’s conveniently located in one of the areas with direct access to SEPTA that goes back to the airport. The employees are SO nice and accommodating and my order took 6 minutes from start to finish. For $9 you get plenty of options of free toppings and sides. It isn’t just affordable but it’s also super buttery, fresh, and PACKED with steak! 100% worth it

  • This place is awesome! Located in the back of the food court in the Comcast building. The staff is great! Always friendly and engaging! You can talk anything with these guys! I had a Turkey BLT on a long roll! Awesome! Really good! They have different breakfast items. Cheesesteaks are great! They really can hook a sandwich up! Chicken cheesesteaks are what I get. Amazing!

  • When in Philly a cheesesteak is a must. Our first stop was to try a Philly cheesesteak. Since my youngest is allergic to dairy we had to find a place with dairy free cheese options and this place did not disappoint. I had a Philly steak with provolone cheese, grilled peppers and onions and it was so delicious.

  • These guys take great care of me always remembering my order and even greeting me by first name and I’m only in the city 2-3 times a month. Love the food and the service. Keep up the great work!!

  • Granted I only had two cheesesteaks in my time in Philly, this and an OG popular (but not tourist trap-popular) cheesesteak, this one blew the OG cheesesteak out the water. The seasoning on these cheesesteaks is incredible. It’s more than just beef and cheese; there are dimensions to this flavor! I recommend getting American over provolone for that extra savoriness, and loading up on their pickled condiments at the end of the line. The acidity of the condiments perfectly balances out the fattiness of the meat and cheese. We also had onion rings, which were super crispy and perfectly breaded. It was a little hard to find this place, but you have to enter the Comcast building (looks like an office building but you’re in the right place) and go downstairs into the food court. The staff are all so nice and welcoming and create an amazing vibe. There was seating in the food court area, but it was so nice outside that we were able to enjoy our meal in the promenade. This was an experience I won’t soon forget! Can’t wait to come back here.
